Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important political figure stated the incident made him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
